CYSO demands Pahari Quota for Chanderbhaga region.
In a Press statement Chanderbhaga Youth and Students Organization (CYSO) Activist Rajeshwar Jaral said that "it was very unfortunate that the Chanderbhaga region I.e District Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban were neglected by J&K's government. Policy makers never draw their attention toward our region. We are the most exploited people in fight of Jammu vs Kashmir." He said that Jammu and Kashmir administrative council on Thursday granted four percent reservation to Pahari Speaking People (PSP) in direct recruitments, admissions and distribution of seats in professional institutions at the post graduate level. There are around 9.2 lakh Pahari Speaking People across Chanderbhaga region. For Claming the benefit in the (PSP) Quota we full fill all the criteria seted by government but still we are not getting our rights.
Nikhil Parihar CYSO activist
added in his statement that Chanderbhaga region who are majorly covered with mountainous and speak Pahari languages like Sarazi, Bhaderwahi, Kishtwari, Desswali, Bhallesi and Pogli are maliciously kept outside the purview of this reservation. He said that we are completely eligible for claming the benefits in the Pahari Speaking People (PSP) Category. A person must be a member of Pahari clan, Community or tribe having distinct cultural ethnic and linguistic identity; must be speaking pahari language and his or her mother tongue be Pahari. Chanderbhaga region fulfill all these categories to claim for PSP based reservation but very unfortunate that our government neglected us for last few decade's.
Another CYSO activist Minkel Aryan said that if government of Union territory attain our genuine demand than this decision will not only help to rationalize the representations across chanderbhaga region but will also give equitable representation to the people of the pahari community in whole jammu kashmir.
This demand shows that the youth of pahari speaking peoples are neglected by the administration which are blessed under Indian constitution.
As per Indian constitution, there is reservation in departmental jobs for pahari speaking peoples.
