Police besides conducting various talks on the drug abuse by different speakers also distributed pamphlets among students and youth containing the details of effects and consequences of the drug abuse. He said that the drug abuse starts as a fun and ends in death or multiple lifelong disabilities to the person who enters into its vicious cycle. SSP sought support of the civil society to eradicate menace of drug abuse, SSP further said that cooperation of every section of the society is must to liberate our younger generation from the yoke of drug addiction. “We have to accept this reality that drugs are slowly tightening grip on the youth. It is high time to start a deciding war against this menace”, the SSP Kishtwar said and seek cooperation of younger to eradicate the menace. The students, youth, should promise to the police that they will take the anti-drug message of police to every nook and corner of their areas. KN:- Chenab Valley roads are often called killer roads .How difficult is it to regulate smooth traffic on these roads?
SSP:- Notwithstanding lack of manpower, infrastructure and long working hours which pose a big challenge for traffic police as they try to control the increasing chaos we are giving our hundred percent to avoid any untoward incident on Kishtwar roads . The traffic police Kishtwar district is grappling with a severe manpower shortage to regulate the movement of vehicles in about 12 hours a day. The wrongly parked vehicles during peak hours aggravated traffic issues in all main roads and towns . He said that wrongly parked vehicles on the road connecting main roads to other roads causing traffic jam on both sides, adding that wrong parking could be dealt by provision of lifting and toeing vehicles to the police stations. Despite the fact that the traffic police play the most crucial role in enforcing traffic rules, government must hear us and act on several proposals forwarded to them. Rash driving by the ill-experienced drivers are the main reason for increasing road accidents on Chenab Valley roads. SSP said that they have guided local public to park their vehicles in parking area instead of road side and also start campaign of traffic rule system into public area with the help of ARTO Kishtwar.By this drive traffic system will be regulated smoothly.

SSP:- So So far we don’t have any such complaint and maintained that selection is being done on purely merit basis. He asked the youth to beware of touts who may misguide them and may loot them of their hard earned money on the pretext of providing them job. The proposed 1,000 megawatt Pakal Dul hydroelectric power project on Marusadar River, a tributary of Chenab River, in Jammu and Kashmir will be completed in 66 months and will provide 12 per cent free power to the state.
